progress

i was about to blog about my day and how much progress i made and everything i accomplished. but then i caught myself defining progress as "things to get done" and was frustrated with myself. i have been trying to redefine my definition of what qualifies as something 'worthy' enough to spend my time on. not having a conventional job, i struggle daily with how i spend my time. i started off feeling guilty for having a nap in the afternoon, or reading in the sunshine or just sitting and thinking. why is it that i only feel like i've 'accomplished' something when it's chores, grocery shopping, cleaning or mainly, MAKING MONEY! i need something to show for all that i got done. but that is not the standard i want to set for my life. i want to value vulnerbility,  transparency, maturity, imagination, etc etc. so yes, when i take a nap, i am refreshing myself and am better for it! when i sit and read, i am exercising my brain muscles and caring for my soul. when i surf blogs for hours on end, i am tapping into my inspiration source creating a life filled with passion, art and joy! i am re-learning how to care for myself, and it is a beautiful thing.

here is a painting i finished recently inspired by the beautiful begonias in my parents yard!

home and wed!

well folks, the wedding day has come and gone. and i can honestly say: i want it to happen all over again. I hear lots of brides say "the day was perfect, but i am glad it is over with and i carry on with my life again"...... well that is NOT me, I feel somewhat at a loss as to what to do with my free time. I miss the crafting, the dreaming, the stitching, the watercolours, everything! i miss it!
stay posted for some wedding day pics!
i can't wait to share all the little details with you, equipped with explanations and wedding day stories!

Bloom!

Alright, so the wedding is a mear 15 days away! 15 days away, and I had the nerve to ask my wonderful florist if it's too late to change the flowers for the wedding! I know, I'm crazy. Turns out, it's not too late! My florist is Megan from Bloom in Winkler! She is absolutely amazing. Honestly, she is the most friendly, personable lady! I highly recommend going to her adorable little shop, it is so bright and airy, definitely refreshing. Check out her website here.

The inspiration for the new flowers is this:

v-day!

For years I have said "I hate valentines day".
But this year, I am realizing that I actually love this season celebrating love! I still think the actual day of Valentines is over-rated, a commercial bonanza to get us to spend money on useless things, and just all together awkward.... "oh, thank you for these flowers that you feel obligated to give me because every other person in the world is giving flowers to their women, thanks"
And yet..... the weeks leading up to Valentines are fun! Things are pink and red, cute and pretty, frilly and lacey. I like it. I enjoy seeing people get creative to express their love to their love! Handmade cards, diy projects... I wish the world was this motivated to show love year round!

Here are some of my favourite valentine lovelies, from cards to diy to just plain pretty!

crayon hearts! I know what I'm doing this weekend!

happy saturday all!
